Maple Sugar Cured Heritage Ham Cooking Guidelines

Our Sugar-Cured Ham arrives fully cooked and is ready to enjoy at room temperature, cold or warm. Please note, the ham can stay frozen for 6 months and still maintain optimal flavor. Once thawed, our ham will keep for 3 weeks in the refrigerator.

To Thaw A Frozen Ham

Place your frozen ham in the refrigerator for 4-6 hours per pound of ham (approximately 2 days for a 10 pound ham). If you’re pressed for time and need to thaw your ham fast, you can place your ham in its original plastic packaging into a cold water bath. The water should be changed every 30 minutes. A 10 pound ham will take approximately 5 hours to thaw.

To Serve Cold

Our Maple Sugar Cured hams are fully cooked and ready to enjoy. If you are planning to serve your ham at room temperature, simply allow it to rest covered on the counter until the initial chill from the fridge has subsided. Left over ham will keep in your fridge for 3 weeks, or it can be frozen for up to 1 year.

To Serve Warm

Once thawed and rested gently warm the ham in a 325°F oven with one cup of water, wine, or stock in the pan. You may cover the ham with foil to help ensure it doesn’t dry out. Remove the ham from the oven when it has reached an internal temperature of 130-135°F. Remember the ham is already fully cooked, you’re just warming it through. Heat your ham low and slow, but don’t be afraid to crank the oven up at the end to get it beautifully browned. Be sure to keep a watchful eye the entire time!

PRO TIP: Allow your ham to rest outside of the fridge before cooking. A room temperature ham will require less time in the oven, resulting in a juicier ham!
